This is the previous edition of the award-winning nonfiction work, Lee Lawrie’s Prairie Deco: History I Stone at the Nebraska State Capitol, 3rd Edition. The book is currently out of print.

This book was first published in September 2011, and it captures all of the sculpture at the Nebraska State Capitol by Lee Lawrie, and explains the symbolism and history behind each piece of the architectural sculpture that is engaged into the construction of the building.

Under architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, Lee Lawrie created the sculpture for the Capitol under the multitude of themes, assembled by Nebraska’s own philosopher, Hartley Burr Alexander.

The purpose of the capitol, in addition to being the seat of the legislature, was threefold: first, it was to serve as a memorial capitol honoring Nebraska’s members of the armed forces who were killed in the Great War, aka WWI.

Since its publication, this book has been plagiarized by Amazon.com and Ingram Publisher Services, LLC, now subject to investigation by the Department of Justice. To this day, Amazon posts images of its counterfeit books on its sites in such countries as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Time will tell whether I as the author, will ever receive any compensation or damages for these words and photos, stolen by persons yet unknown, but with the aid and abetting of Amazon.com and IngramPubisherServices.
