The Emancipation Proclamation forms part of the History of Law sculptural programme at the Nebraska State Capitol. Developed by Hartley Burr Alexander and designed by Lee Lawrie, the relief appears on the exterior of the Capitol.
This is one element in a much larger architectural programme. Lawrie created scores of individual sculptures for the interiors and exteriors of Goodhue’s buildings.
